The Editorial Approach.

Ovanel Journal operates under a set of editorial principles designed to ensure that every article published is accurate, transparently sourced, and honest about the limits of what an independent editorial publication can and cannot say about supplementation and nutrition.

Core Editorial Principles

Ovanel Journal operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

These principles are not aspirational statements — they are operational requirements applied to every piece of content that appears on this site. The editorial team considers them non-negotiable, and no exception has been made since the journal's founding.

Ovanel Journal is an independent editorial publication exploring everyday supplementation habits, nutritional awareness, and active lifestyle choices for men. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

02 — Publication Process
01
Commission

Topic Selection

Topics are selected based on relevance to the journal's focus on men's supplementation habits and nutritional awareness. Commissioned topics must relate to published nutritional research or documented active lifestyle patterns. No topic is commissioned in exchange for commercial consideration.

02
Draft

Writing and Sourcing

Writers research and draft articles with reference to published nutritional literature where relevant. Claims about supplement roles and nutritional patterns are grounded in the best available observational or published research. Writers flag areas where evidence is limited or contested.

03
Review

Second-Editor Check

Every draft is reviewed by a second editor before publication. The review covers factual accuracy, source adequacy, tone consistency with the journal's register, and compliance with the stop-vocabulary policy that prevents the publication from straying into areas that require qualified professional oversight.

04
Publish

Publication and Record

Approved articles are published with full author attribution, publication date, and a reader notice affirming the editorial nature of the content. Post-publication corrections are noted on the article page with the correction date.

03

Source Verification

Content published by Ovanel Journal is selected based on published nutritional research and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication.

The journal's source hierarchy prioritises peer-reviewed nutritional research published in indexed journals. Where such sources are not available, the editorial team relies on established independent nutritional reference works, publicly available nutritional databases (such as those maintained by national nutritional authorities), and well-documented practitioner consensus.

Sources are never brand-published studies, supplement company white papers, or promotional materials of any kind. When a piece of published research has a commercial sponsor, that sponsorship is noted in the article where it is relevant to the reader's assessment of the evidence.

Accuracy Policy and Corrections

Factual accuracy is the editorial team's primary responsibility to readers. The journal maintains a policy of transparency about errors: where a factual correction is required after publication, the change is logged on the relevant article page with a correction note and the date the correction was made.

The journal does not delete incorrect content silently. Corrections are additive — the original passage is retained in a strikethrough format where the nature of the error would benefit from transparency, with the corrected text clearly marked. Where a wholesale retraction is warranted, the page remains accessible with a retraction notice explaining the reason.

Readers who identify potential inaccuracies in published content are encouraged to contact the editorial team at [email protected] with the specific passage, the factual claim as presented, and any source that supports a correction. The team reviews all such correspondence and will respond to substantive challenges within ten working days.

No correction request is dismissed without response. The editorial team may disagree with a reader's assessment, but every substantive challenge is reviewed against the original sourcing and the decision is communicated.

05

Commercial Independence

Ovanel Journal does not accept sponsored articles, affiliate link arrangements, or direct commercial relationships with supplement brands or retailers. This policy is unconditional and applies to all content regardless of the commercial standing of the brand in question.

Writers are required to disclose any personal commercial relationships with supplement or nutrition brands before a topic commission is confirmed. Where such a relationship exists and the writer wishes to proceed, the article undergoes an additional layer of editorial review and the relationship is disclosed in the published piece.

The journal's funding model is not advertising-dependent. This structural independence is considered a precondition of editorial credibility in a niche where commercial conflict of interest is pervasive. Ovanel Journal is funded through the publishing functioning itself, without recourse to product placement or affiliate revenue.
